Judge rules Apple violated order in Epic vs. Apple
Apple seen to have violated a U.S. court order that required them to allow greater competition for app downloads and payment methods in apps

It may have taken over 4 years, but Epic Games has finally prevailed in its antitrust case against Apple. The floodgates are open for developers to take payments outside of their apps without a cut going to Apple.
U.S. District Court judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers held that Apple failed to comply with her 2021 ruling and was in contempt of court for this "willful violation". This is part of the ruling that Epic won which said it was not OK for Apple to prohibit game makers from directing users outside of their apps to make item purchases chepper.
“Effective immediately Apple will no longer impede developers’ ability to communicate with users nor will they levy or impose a new commission on off-app purchases,”
Apple, obviously strongly disagrees with the decision. However they will comply and appeal.
Tim Sweeney was quick to celebrate saying that not only are these fees dead in the EU but in the U.S. too.
